Special Events

PCC is well known in the Malaysian cycling community for its ability to organize special cycling events for its club members. Even though the committee for such events are purely on volunteer basis, each event so far have been well run and continue to attract many participants.

Here are some special events that will take place this year.

PRESIDENTIAL RIDE 2002 - Another popluar ride with mostly mounties. This year it will be a 100KM plus ride is a must do as it is only held once a year and takes us through 3 major oil palm estate in the area. This endurance off road ride can be challening to newbies as it will take most about 7-9 hours to complete and only one refill stop in between. Another tough part of the ride is to find the links to each of thes estates.

The PCC Interstate is perhaps the most well known and participated event among the cylcing community in Malaysia.Every year this ride attracts more than 50 riders from all over Malaysia both roadies and dirt masters.
It is usually held during the Merdeka Day weekend. The event is a 3 day cycling event that will take us across multiple states in Malaysia.
We have been averaging about 120KM per day on most events.
Previous interstates have taken us from Kuala Lumpur to Kuantan in 1999 and in 2000 we rode from Kuala Lumpur to Gua Musang in Kelantan.
Last year's event will took us all the way to Mersing,Johor.
This year promises to be the biggest,longest and most scenic of all interstates.

HOLIDAY ON BIKE - A regular feature of PCC special events. This is also a well anticipated event as it combines both riding and holiday in one as the name suggest. Usually a family event and well particpated by rider and non riders alike.Previous HOBs took us to exotic places like Cameron Highlands, Kuantan,Sungai Lembing falls.

This event is very popular with the roadies. As the name suggest, the objective of the event is to ride up popular hills/mountains in Malaysia. So far we have done mostly road climbs.Hills that we have done so far were Camerons, Frasers and Genting.Watch out for KOM 2002 which we will kick off in April at Cameron Highlands.

This multi disciplined event was dreamed up by some members to spike more fun into this sport. Most kind you find today like the Ironman, eco challenge and sorts in the circuit are for superhumans with very little fun involved. So we decided to do one that most mortals can particpate without too much pain and still have ton of fun doing it. The first everIronheart series was held in 1999. In involve a swim of 500m in a public pool, road ride of 12KM mountain bike for 10KM and trail running for 2.5KM. We have plans to run the second one this year. Watch out for it soon.
